The kids at the pool hall
Shake their heads at my bad shot
I say
I spent my formative years studying
When I should have been skipping school
Learning pool
They sigh
At my lousy education
And show me how my angle
Is all wrong
“The Kids at The Pool Hall” from In Black Ink.
About the author
Peter Harris, if that’s his real name, has too much education to be so weird. BA, MA, Université de Sherbrooke. It has been said that he has a voice like the voice of God (if God woke up with a hangover in a dumpster in Sudbury). He’s been known to ruin every social occasion, and consequently receives few invitations to dinner. A hardship for a poet. His second book, In Black Ink, is made up of the sorrow songs, the blues, from life’s great heartbreak. Having written it, we fully expect him to be more cheerful from now on. Travel writing and Web design pay the bills that poetry and music don’t cover.
